What to see in two days in Madrid?
Many people ask me what to see on a short stopover in Madrid and if they have a couple of days to see the main parts of the city, of course! Madrid gives for one, two days or for a lifetime!
However, I am going to put the best points to see in the city, ensuring drinks and typical food along the way.
Day 1:
Stroll from Cibeles to Plaza España, along the entire Gran Vía. Stop at the Mercado de La Reina, the Picalagartos terrace, La Terraza del RIU or the Secret Garden of Salvador Bachiller. It all depends on the weather, the time and the plan you want. Go to the Debod temple where the sunset is impressive, seeing the Royal Palace.
Alternative: from Gran Vía go towards Preciados and see Puerta del Sol. Note: In Callao's Corte Inglés, on the top floor, you can have an aperitif with spectacular views. Or if you want something more refined, you can go to the typical but refined Castizo or the elegant Galerías Canalejas, below the Four Seasons. Then go to the Plaza Mayor and eat a calamari or cod sandwich in its many restaurants for a more casual plan.
Day 2:
Walk the Cava Baja de La Latina and eat some mussels at La Perejilla or an omelette at El Pez Tortilla. Continue towards the Royal Palace, visit its gardens and the Almudena. If there is time left, go to Malasaña for a vermouth bar or the hundred-year-old bar La Ardosa for artichokes or the famous tortilla.
This plan is suitable for travelers with little time, guarantees good food and a quick cultural immersion in Madrid.
